"Allison used the Outside-the-Box approach to review the needs of our organisation and to put forward a proposal to structure our learning and development arrangements differently.
Prior to her involvement, we were delivering a lot of face-to-face training to the whole workforce. By thinking more carefully about the learning outcomes we want to achieve, we have developed different ways to support staff to gain the knowledge and skills they need; we are clearer about the effectiveness of our training; managers are more involved in promoting transfer of learning; and staff are more accountable and engaged in promoting their own professional development.
Applying a holistic approach to learning and development has resulted in a more streamlined process from induction through to appraisal; staff are involved in assessing their own performances and learning needs, whilst Managers are able to select from a range of supportive measures to promote good practices.
With direction from Allison, we feel that we now have a focused workforce development strategy and learning and development plan that will take us from ‘good' to 'outstanding' and help us to retain 'outstanding' as our workforce are more competent and able to work with our young people to achieve successful outcomes."
